Rainy day BLUES can inspire

All over the southeast United States, rain is pouring down today.  I am sitting alone in this quiet store; no one is out shopping in the bad weather.  But...

The rain can be inspiring!  I'm thinking of blues and grays today, so let's take a look at some beautiful, rainy-day hues.

True, a rainy day can be a little bit of a downer, but keep in mind that it can inspire shades of blues and grays that are absolutely soothing and beautiful.  Especially when you throw a little leopard print in there with it.   :)

Cabin Fever

My mother recently decorated a home in Highlands, North Carolina.  It is a space that was completely bare, until Karen Rainey Interiors came in to take over!  This is one of my favorite projects Mom has completed.  I think it is so neat how it is "rustic chic."

Below are some picture of that home in Highlands, and thinking of this home inspired me to create a collection of cabins and rustic homes that I admire on this cold day.

I love the custom pheasant pillows in the chairs.

Dining area.  A perfect example of how accessories can make a room.

Dining table.  Love the chargers, votives, candlesticks, pheasant.

Love the tea-stained walls in this guest bedroom

That's all for the Highlands home!

I'll take it.

SO, I must admit, when it come to beach vs. mountain people, I'm a beach girl all the way.  However, looking at the rustic appeal of these beautiful spaces makes me want to head north.  Unless someone plans a beach trip first.  :)
